The protagonist of this edition for me: the Tortellino.
The Tortellino is an ancient recipe of my country; specifically, it is a recipe born in Emilia-Romagna. As I discovered after a short research, the firsts news about them date back to the XII century.
This is a simple example of a first course based on water, flour, and eggs for the pastry and different types of meat for the stuffing. There are several versions from zone to zone, but an official recipe has been deposited in the last century in Italy.
In other countries, the Tortellinis is being served in many different ways but the original recipes plan to serve them in broth or with cooking cream.
But, when I thought to photograph them? In the last days, while my mum was preparing them. Typically, Tortellino is a Christmas recipe, traditionally served on Christmas Day or the days around it. I moved near the table and took these shots.
With my photos, I wanted to tell a portion of one of the older gastronomic traditions of my country. I create some photos with Tortellino as the main subject and others with some ingredients of the recipes.
In the last steps of the preparation, remained a table full of Tortellinis. I took a shot of them and another foreground.
As usual, the inevitable passage of my work: the creation of multiple covers for the photos I took. I very like this type of processing, I like the different emotion that the different covers can transmit us.
So, I took 3 different photos between the previous, and I started the post-processing. This time, 3 black and white cover, the second of which is less contrasted.
For me, this edition of Behind the Contest finish here.
