What an interesting story! I couldn't help chuckling at Edith's reaction when she discovered the type of market they visited. Oh, the troubles of marriage and infidelity most often is at the heart of it. Luckily Joanna found a solution to her predicament so it's a bit puzzling why she's angry with Edith. Perhaps a little sympathy would have been a better response. Edith's quick and angry reaction is understandable given her strict upbringing.
The ending is fascinating. I was like, "wow, look who eventually ordered for two-part series of the novels and lingerie!" 😄 It's almost like a twist in the tale that makes me wonder about Edith's next step. It's doubtful that her pride would allow her to reach out to Joanna to express gratitude for bringing her attention to her husband's disloyalty.
As for Edith's husband, he doesn't deserve her at all! His behavior at the Men's Club, where he gossips and mocks his own wife behind her back, is deeply unkind. It raises questions about the strength of their marriage. She makes all these efforts to fix their bedroom but the damage has been done because since he's capable of betraying her in one way, what's to stop him from doing something more terrible? In my book, they don't seem suited to be together, especially with such a rot already in their relationship.
Overall, I enjoyed reading your story. You delved into the character's emotions and the constraints of their society making it a captivating narrative. Beautifully written! !PIMP !LUV
