What do I do with Beet?

Beet... My mum used to pass them through a juice extractor and make us beet juice with celery. We used to drink it every single at one point for almost a year. Why? I can't remember exactly but I remembered it being a healthy drink.

To me, it tasted like soil, sweet soil perhaps. I didn't quite like the taste but with celery, it wasn't too bad. As a teenager, I drank because I had to, not because I wanted to. Each time I gurgle it down my throat, I kept telling myself that it was good for me.

But, remember that your poop will have slight dark reddish colour and apparently pee too but I don't remember experiencing that.

But there’s a side effect of eating beets that takes some people by surprise. Beets can cause beeturia, which is when urine turns red or pink. According to one study, this condition affects about 14 percent of the population.

Symptoms of beeturia
The primary symptom of beeturia is discolored urine or stools. Urine appears red or pink after eating beetroot or foods and juices containing extracts or pigments of beetroot.

I remembered the preparation being quite messy. When you cut through it, your chopping board, your fingers, anything nearby that is light coloured will be stained by the intense dark red colour of the beet. After that, it would take quite a while and a number of washes before the colour fades.

At that time, it wasn't easy to find them either and they were quite expensive. We used to hunt them down, going to a few grocers, supermarkets, markets to find them. I am not sure about now because I have not looked for beet for a long time. Sometimes, pieces of beet would appear in the salad that we ordered but that was pretty much it.

Saludos @marblely. el consumo excesivo de la remolacha trae consigo las orinas y heces manchadas de rojo. Pero es si las comes muy seguido y en abundancia.
Para ti es bueno, porque ayuda a aumentar la capacidad para hacer ejercicios, por sus vitaminas y fructosa, que es un azúcar no perjudicial.
Se puede ingerir con jugo de naranja y zanahoria y su sabor es mejorado.

Greetings @marblely. Excessive consumption of beet brings with it urine and feces stained with red. But it is if you eat them very often and in abundance.
For you it is good, because it helps increase the ability to exercise, for its vitamins and fructose, which is a non-harmful sugar.
It can be ingested with orange and carrot juice and its flavor is improved.

I think there was a time it was popular to use a juice extractor and put everything in it. Especially carrots. We didn't had it neither my grannies. We just ate them and indeed if you eat many your poop turns red but even that doesn't happen to me.
