Roots You Cannot See

A few days ago I was walking through a small field near my village. In the middle of that field there was a tall tree. It looked strong and beautiful. Its branches were wide, its leaves were fresh, and birds were sitting on it peacefully.
For a moment I stopped and looked at it carefully.
Then a simple thought came to my mind: the strongest part of that tree was not the branches, not the leaves, and not even the trunk.
The strongest part was something nobody could see — its roots.
Those roots were hidden deep in the soil. They were silent, invisible, and unnoticed. But without them, the tree would fall in the first strong wind.
And suddenly I realized that human relationships are very similar to that tree.
In life, we often focus on what people show on the outside. We see smiles, laughter, pictures together, and friendly conversations. Everything looks perfect on the surface.
But the real strength of any relationship is not what people show in public.
The real strength is hidden, just like the roots of a tree.
It is loyalty.
It is sincerity.
It is the quiet support someone gives when nobody else is watching.
I remember a small experience from my own life.
A few years ago, I was going through a difficult time. Things were not going the way I had planned. During that time, I noticed something interesting about the people around me.
Some people who used to talk to me every day slowly disappeared. They became busy. Messages stopped coming. Conversations became shorter.
At first, I felt a little disappointed.
But then I noticed something else.
There were two friends who stayed exactly the same. They did not make big speeches. They did not give long advice. But they stayed.
Sometimes they simply asked, “How are you today?”
Sometimes they just listened.
At that moment I understood something very important: in life, it is not the number of people around you that matters. What really matters is the quality of the people who stand with you.
Many people can walk beside you when the road is smooth. But only a few will stay when the road becomes difficult.
Those people are like the roots of a tree.
They may not always be visible in public moments. They may not always be loud. But their presence keeps everything standing.
In today’s world, especially on social media, it is very easy to look surrounded by people. We can have hundreds of contacts, followers, and conversations.
But deep inside, every person knows who truly stands with them.
And honestly, we do not need many people.
Sometimes just one or two sincere people are enough to make life feel stable and meaningful.
So if you have someone in your life who stays loyal, who listens to you, and who does not disappear when things become difficult — appreciate them.
Because just like the roots of a tree, those people are the ones who quietly hold your world together.

I agree with you, we can have many contacts, but more important than quantity is the quality of the people who truly support us. As you describe it, they are the roots that help us grow. Have a great week!
