Warum sind die Hotelpreise in Dublin so teuer? War am Wochenende das erste Mal in Dublin, Irland und war zunächst erstaunt über die hohen Hotelpreise, die sogar noch teurer sind als in London.
Ein Hotelzimmer im Zentrum hätte ab 300 Euro pro Nacht aufwärts gekostet, wenn man es kurzfristig bucht, was wirklich heftig ist. Bessere Zimmer sogar 400-500 Euro. Pro Nacht. Habe mich daher entschlossen in ein Hostel zu gehen, 1 Bett in einem 6-Bett-Zimmer kam auf 100 Euro die Nacht. Irre.
Billiger wären Hotels außerhalb des Zentrums, auch privat-vermietete Zimmer via Airbnb sind etwas günstiger.
Denke die Hotel-Preise sind in Dublin so teuer, weil Dublin eine Art Steueroase für (amerikanische) Tech-Firmen ist, was die Immopreise pusht und in Folge auch die Hotels und alles andere teuer macht.
An dem Wochenende war auch noch das Rugby-Match Irland vs. Frankreich, vielleicht waren die Preise auch deswegen so hoch. Und dann ist auch bald der St. Patrick's Day, was die Preise ebenfalls durch die Decke gehen lässt.

Why are hotel prices in Dublin so expensive? I was in Dublin, Ireland for the first time at the weekend and was initially surprised at the high hotel prices, which are even more expensive than in London.
A hotel room in the city center would have cost from 300 euros per night upwards if you book it at short notice, which is really hefty. Better rooms are even 400-500 euros. Per night. I therefore decided to go to a hostel, 1 bed in a 6-bed room came to 100 euros a night. Insane.
Hotels outside the center would be cheaper, also privately rented rooms via Airbnb are a bit cheaper.
I think the hotel prices in Dublin are so expensive because Dublin is a kind of cooperate tax haven for (American) tech companies, which pushes up property prices and consequently makes hotels and everything else more expensive.
There was also the Ireland vs. France rugby match that weekend, so maybe that's why prices were so high. And then St. Patrick's Day is also around the corner, which will also send prices through the roof.
