Quiet People Are Not Always Heartless

Sometimes a person stays silent not because they do not care, but because they are tired.
Explaining everything, defending yourself all the time, clearing every misunderstanding… after a while, these things make a person emotionally exhausted. Then silence becomes easier than words.
A few days ago, I had a small argument with a friend. At first, I thought maybe she would text me herself, explain things, or at least ask what went wrong. But many days passed. No message. No call. In the beginning, I felt angry, but later that anger slowly turned into sadness.
One night, I finally texted her myself. I only wrote this:
“If the friendship really mattered, why did the silence become so long?”
Her reply came after quite some time. She said:
“Sometimes people simply run out of words.”
That one line stayed in my mind. Because honestly, not every silent person is careless. Some people are fighting battles inside themselves that they cannot explain to anyone. They become quiet, distant, and people start thinking they no longer care.
In relationships, we often only notice our own pain. We think the other person has changed, but maybe they are carrying something heavy inside. Some people express pain loudly, while others hide it behind silence.
I feel that nowadays silence has become one of the most dangerous things in relationships. Because when people stop talking, feelings slowly start fading too. Relationships rarely break in one moment; they slowly disappear in long periods of silence.
Now I try not to judge silent people too quickly.
Sometimes silence is also a cry for help — it just needs someone willing to understand it.
Question
Have you ever lost someone who spoke very little but carried a lot inside their heart?
