I was trying to browse some movies to watch on Netflix and as always, I was trying to find something under the psychological thriller or horror genre. Well, I am open to other genres but I just enjoy watching psychological thriller or horror more.
There are a lot to choose from from Netflix, but I decided to watch this certain movie called Lavender.

The story revolves around a woman named Jane. She is married to her husband Alan and has a lovely daughter named Alice. They seem like a normal family, though Jane's memory lapses sometimes cause them trouble or inconvenience.
Jane is into photography and her favorite subject to take pictures of are old farmhouses. Despite having taken various photos of these old houses, there's a certain farmhouse that occupies her mind.
One day, she got into an vehicular accident and when she woke up, she couldn't remember her own family. It was said that the memory loss was temporary. What's interesting is that it was found out that she had a previous head trauma during her childhood making her forget a piece of her past, but due to the recent accident, fragments of her lost childhood memories are slowly resurfacing.
Let me show you a trailer of the said movie below.

As you have seen in the trailer above, the old farmhouse that has been on her mind turned out to be the place where she used to live in her childhood. A lot of things happened in that house, both good and bad... traumatic, even.
As she slowly gets her memory from her childhood back, the more clearer every thing becomes.
Well, the story isn't the best, but it wasn't that bad either. It was slow-paced and there were some parts when I questioned myself, "What the heck is happening?", but as the movie progresses, it became more and more interesting.

This scene reminded me of "IT" but no worries, there aren't scary looking clowns in this movie... or are there? haha Well, there are riddles and puzzles to be answered in this film, though. ;)
Although the movie wasn't as explosive as other thrillers or horror films I've seen, I enjoyed the twists and turns in the movie. I especially like the final 20-30 minutes of the film. As I've mentioned earlier, it was slow-paced, but I think it was in order to build up the frustration and enjoy the last several minutes of the film.
I have tried doing some theory as to what's going to happen while watching, but I have changed several times. haha One thing though, you shouldn't be scared of the dead, but of the living. There is a problem related to this too, though... what if you don't know who's alive or who's already dead?

It might not be the best movie, but in the end, I still enjoyed it. You just have to be patient to go through the slow pace in the first part, but it'll be all worth-it. So, if you're patient enough, why not give this movie a shot? :)
