We are all familiar with this platform we are on called Hive. It is mainly a blogging platform where people can curate and interact with each other's content, with the added bonus of monetary incentive in the form of HIVE and Hive Backed Dollar (HBD). The power of your curation or voting power is based on how much HIVE you stake in your account. Each HIVE staked equal one Hive Power (HP). But you probably already knew that, so enough about the basics.
While the Hive platform is mainly for blogging, it has many different alternative uses. Most of these alternatives are usually connected with the second layer of the Hive Platform, the Hive Engine. This is where all the alternative tokens tied to Hive reside. A simplistic comparison would be the Ethereum blockchain which has many different other tokens connected to it through different smart contracts. Even though Hive and Hive-Engine may not quite work the same on a technical level, it is a good example from a perspective level.
When I think of alternative uses, the first thing that comes to mind is gaming. And yes, we can definitely play games on the Hive platform. Popular ones among them are RisingStar, Splinterlands, dCity, Rabona, and many more. These are all still in the early stages of being interactive, but they are in constant development, and there are even moves being made by other developers to get crypto games closer to the level of non-crypto mainstream games. Getting used to crypto gaming this early will make you familiar with the space for later on in the future, and Hive provides this opportunity.
Another thing we can do with Hive is lending. We can lend HP to others for a set period of time and receive interest on that. I'm not sure about lending HBD. If you know of any application that does that, let me know. Speaking of HBD, you can also simply save your HBD in your Hive wallet and earn interest on that.
Trading is also something you can do on Hive. Whether it's trading between HIVE and HBD, or trading the vast amounts of tokens on Hive Engine, varying from tribe tokens, to miner tokens, to passive income/dividend tokens. One can also facilitate these trades on Hive Engine by providing liquidity to swap pools, which enable users to swap between different tokens.
Hive also has the ability to contain those popular NFTs everyone's talking about. Mostly this is done by the Hive games who store their digital assets in this form.
The Hive blockchain is proving to be a powerful system. Even more so with its quick transactions that are without fees. And it only keeps improving more and more over time. It wouldn't surprise me then if more use cases pop up along the way, because in the end we are only limited by our own creativity.
What other uses are there for the Hive platform?
