RE: πŸ‘ Going Full Manual Voting (Sort Of) πŸ—³οΈ Here's Why πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

Hey @justinparke!! Your new organic "manual" voting strategy looks to me pretty neat, logical and reasonable.

But then, what I, after four years wandering over here on these 'Social Networks' on the blockchain I've been failing to see reasonable or logical in the least. From a Profitability viewpoint or otherwise.

Is, how the heck spreading hundreds of a mere 'automated' 1% upvote of which one of your bigger upvotes at full 100% VP would barely grant $0.06.... ΒΏHow the heck this could be useful, supportive or appreciated by someone at all ΒΏHuh?

Would you like to shed some light on this matter and mindset my friend? :)

Cheers!!

Early on I realized the gamification of the system. With a low REP #, producing awesome content and engaging with other Hivers wasn't enough. When I joined voting trails and delegated to curators, I started to see myself getting more upvotes.

Now that I have a high rep score, I imagine I get a lot of blind votes from those that simply look at my thumbnail and rep score. When your rep is low, the chances of someone clicking your thumbnail and actually reading your post and giving a major upvote are slim to none.

However, sex appeal can turn that model upside down, something I don't have.

I will say though, that if it wasn't for the autovotes I get based on being a whitelisted trusted quality content creator, Hive wouldn't be worth the time and effort I spend on it.

Yep, I understand your point @justinparke. But I'm afraid you didn't answer my specific question.

So, I will have no choice but to repeat it once again.

How the heck spreading hundreds of a mere 'automated' 1% upvote of which your biggest upvote at full 100% VP would grant barely $0.06.... ΒΏHow the heck this could be useful, supportive or appreciated by someone at all ΒΏHuh?

What's the advantage to upvote lots of posts blindly with a so ludicrous low percentage of only 1% against not voting anything at all?

Well, I thought I answered it, at least from what I can tell you. I can't speak, however, for whether or not something could be appreciated by someone else or not, because I'm not viewing the world through their eyes.

I can say though, early on in my blogging journey, I would spend hours and hours putting a post together, release it, and wait, wait, wait.

Sometimes I would only get 1 real human 100% vote and comment, even thought the vote value was only 0.001 STU, it meant a lot to me to know that someone read my post and felt it was worth 100% of their vote. Just because that meant a lot to me as a Redfish doesn't mean it has to have value for you.

There are a lot of awesome curators doing way more diligent curation work than I have time for, especially @TheTerminal. They focus on Redfish, low HP accounts, intro posts, and really use their upvote support the future of this community. I am more than happy to be part of a voting trail like that.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I remember when my 100% upvote was worth 0.000 STU, and I eagerly awaited my first post payout, after which I could then have a vote of 0.001 STU. I was elated to have this new power.

I would've been very discouraged early on though if someone told me what good does it bring to have my 0.001 STU, and you've even mentioned what good does a $0.06 cent vote bring? It makes me think you've never lived in a developing country.

In Cambodia, my former home, $0.06 could get both your bicycle tires topped off with air from the roadside "air compressor man," and a couple small tamarind snacks for the kids.

I hope that answers your question if you're wondering what good does $0.06 even do, let alone 0.001 STU. Does this logic mean you wouldn't appreciate a 6 to 10 cent vote from me? If so, I guess this further supports my logic of giving more mana to my manual votes.

This way I can actually give 6 to 10 cent upvotes only to those who apprecialove it, and not to those that wonder what good it does. Speaking of which, you stopped by to comment without upvoting this post even 0.001 STU. It would actually mean a lot to me if you show me this post is worth at least that much to you.

Nope!! :)

Again... I understand pretty well 'everything' you've said so far. But what seems you refuse to clearly address in my 'crystal clear' and specific question is:

Why the hell show (which to me looks more like a highly contemptuous and counterproductive activity) insisting in blindly scattering and distributing out exponentially such awful amount of tiny, intrascendental and evidently highly ridiculous low 1% & lower upvotes through automated services?

Yep! I hope you notice the "Key Words Here" blindly & automated.

No mate, in my view you are wrong. I bet this marabunta of lazy automated votes can't uplift or encourage to anyone in the least. On the contrary, these 1% and fractional votes of (0.9%, 0.8%, 0.7% & lower votes) only can be seen rather as a bad joke or an eloquent mockery towards authors.

Yeah! I saw your recent 0.7% upvote in my last post. Thanks anyway.

Just focus on your new "manual curation" strategy from now on and get rid of those tiny, blind, useless & automated votes asap. Unless you can be sure you could grant $0.01 cents through them at least, simply don't bother. These 'intranscendental' low votes won't be appreciated.

It makes me think you've never lived in a developing country.

I'm living now and I've lived all my life in Vzla. So you can easily do the math. :)

Yeah mate. It's not an attack to your post or beliefs nor anything like that. I hope you simply can understand what I've been trying to highlight and point out in your replies. That's all!

Cheers!! :)

Before it was about the size of a vote not mattering, now it's about criticizing voting trails. Most of the good I'm doing for the communities I support is via delegation, but I don't feel like there is a solid wrong or right on the blockchain.

We all are free to play within the rules of the blockchain here. If someone wants to join a voting trail, lease their HP, of power it down, that's up to them, I wouldn't say it's right or wrong.

I think you just want to win something here, so you win. If you don't like lazy votes, you should tell the curation accounts that upvote your posts to shut down their voting trails.

I'm sorry I can't understand what you're highlighting, it keeps changing, I don't think we can have a rational discussion. This is getting too much like Facebook now, gotta go.....
