Strap yourself in. Something is about to happen, maybe swiftly, perhaps messy, maybe larger than you had anticipated. That statement speaks not only of safety but also of readiness. It's the point before everything changes, when you realize you can't be still and can't remain the same.

Life has a way of speeding up unnoticed. Plans alter; pressure increases; opportunities present themselves under cover. It can cause you off-balance if you are not prepared. Once you have "strapped yourself in," you remain calm rather than panic. Though not everything will go your way, you remain in charge of how you react.

It also implies dedication. You don't buckle in halfway. You either secure yourself or not. You neither confront life half-way. You contribute all of your focus, hard work, resiliency. Because once the trip begins, midway jumping off is not an option.

There will be times that push you, moments that challenge you, and times that cause you doubt everything. But those are the moments that help you most.

So strap yourself in, not because it will be simple but rather because you have made up your mind to confront whatever happens next.
