Suffering strides with weighty feet,

A weight set where hearts still pulsed,

It runs threads day and night throughout.

Never seems to go away as well.

Dressed in pain, it hides in silence.

A never ending rain, a continual storm,

Still, through its heft, a spark is discovered,

Under the earth, a seed of strength.

Even though tears can drop and shadows remain,

The soul develops gradually, finds its path.

Every wound that cuts so deep

leaves knowledge planted there to preserve.

Though it bends, suffering does not end;

It tears to construct, it is agony to heal,

And even if it sets us through,

It molds a life both true and sturdy.
