Ninja ManBat

Whoever would have thought that DC’s ManBat, who is usually (but not always) depicted as a semi-mindless creature in both animation and the comics, would even become a ninja? Have to revisit the comic story Batman and Son for this, but from the surface, it seems preposterous to think the creature can develop the skills and intelligence needed to become a ninja.

As can always be expected from DC Direct, the sculpt and design are cool, but the poseability and articulation are very bad, bordering on useless.

In this particular figure, the base is just as useless, with two removable pegs, four holes, but with the figure only having a peg hole on one foot. Incredibly absurd.

And it’s so hard to position the figure even using the base and pegs.

But at least the base’s design is awesome.

Upon a further inspection, one end of each peg was seen to have a lock so that once placed on the stand, becomes permanently attached. Still doesn’t explain the presence of two other holes, though. Maybe the collector can choose at the outset which hole to put the peg in permanently, with no future option to reposition them.

The final curious feature of the figure is the option to store the swords on ManBat’s back, with the wings apparently serving as their holder. If those wings have nerve endings, then those would surely hurt.

All in all, it’s best to treat this figure, as all other DC Direct figures, as a statue.
