Picking up classic gems.

We've all been there.

Looking at these great cards on the market but not having the funds to buy them. Well most of us anyway.

There are always those other players who seem to be buying them maxed out and in gold versions but i'm a long way form that yet unfortunately.

Maybe some day if I get big enough in the game but that is a dream for the far distant future.

I do wish that i had more money in the early days of the game when the alpha and beta packs came out but I was just a crypto newbie at the time with about 500 STEEM to my name.

Not anywhere near the earliest adopters who had big stacks built up that allowed them to ape into the game in it's earliest days.

I did buy a lot of packs with fiat but not enough to max out the early decks.

I worked my way up there slowly, over time. It has been seven years of playing and collecting cards. Blogging, winning rewards and putting more of my hard earned money into the game but I'm finally a regular champions league player.

The latest editions have helped a lot now that so many cards are so affordable. When untamed came along i bought what I could and got more competitive. Then chaos legion crashed the markets and I've mostly maxed out that whole deck.

It might have hurt the game economy but it also gave a lot of players a chance to build stronger decks and play at a higher level so not all bad.

I haven't delved into the newer editions just yet but it's on my list at some stage. Apart from maxing out the reward editions I have picked up a couple of cards here and there.

It's important but not my main focus.

I much prefer the older cards and their artwork and abilities. I love the simplicity of them and their ties to the earliest days of the game. My ambition is to max out every card form beta onwards over time.

A crazy and crazy expensive ambition but who knows what can happen over the next few years. All it takes is one good bull run to change every bodies fortunes. We've seen it before how fast things can change when the markets pump.

Lifechanging amounts of money in days and weeks.

No sign of that yet in the markets but we can always dream.

Until that happens it will continue to be a slow grind towards my main goals.

There are some cards that I do want for my deck sooner rather than later and I managed to snag one of them today.

It's a card that I've come up against so many times and has hurt me so many times.

Just look at that beauty. I've been looking at buying it for a long long time but when I saw that it was at $24 today I pulled the trigger. I had been building funds for a while but hadn't found anything that I needed until i remembered to check this one out in the markets.

It's not the most limited edition out there but I've never seen it below $40 before and even looking at the market now it won't be for much longer.

I couldn't resist and have added a long term gem to my account that should win me a lot of battles.

This is why I play the game. The battles, the challenge, the chase for these cards.

I don't bother with land but I do love collecting and battling.

Try for yourself.

If you haven't played the game before then now is the best time to join. Today is much better than tomorrow and a lot better than later.

While other web3 games are failing on all sides, Splinterlands has been here for seven years and going strong.

It's been used against me so many times that i've always wanted one in my collection.

It's nice to finally pick up cards like this.
