Is what worth it?

Everything really.

How do you calculate the value of an action?

Any action.

If you have two choices for an investment then which do you choose. What are the factors. Is it just a feeling, solid research, earning potential or how much effort it will take to get involved.

I have to say that effort would count really high on this scale.

I like to invest in hive projects as they have a low barrier to entry for me. I have looked at a few other chains when something exciting pops up but as soon as the scale of the task becomes clear then it most often turns me off due to the time constraints to get involved.

I wanted to buy into the chifibots presale and would have bought a level 5 sub with a land plot but they are building onto a different chain with a different wallet. I'm too lazy to be learning even more chains. It doesn't suit me.

Quick and easy is a big selling factor and thats why i love seeing new games and aps on hive so that i can jump in.

Time is money.

So how much money is your time worth?

A valid question and one that has to be asked before making big decisions.

If it will take me three days to learn about this new project and to get set up properly. What are the possible returns from it?

Would it be better to jump straight into a project with lower returns but less initial time invested.

At the moment my time is scarce and like any good market that means it has a high price. Too high to spend on chasing shadows when there are more valuable ways to spend it. Digitally and in real life.

If the up front time costs are too high then it is the same as needing to put up a lot of cash to get involved and will stop a lot of people.

It's a lot of the reason why most people leave hive in the first few days.

The initial time cost is too high. It's too complicated to the average user and they decide that it's not worth the time.

Now anyone here who has stuck tit out and learned how to gain from the system knows that it is worth it over time but that is very few people who can look far enough ahead to see the future returns of being a hive member.

One day i hope to see more apps with a lower learning curve and then we will see more people willing to put in their initial time investment and dive even deeper into the eco-system. If we want to see our investment thrive then we need more people to see the value that the system holds and have easier ways to get them involved.

I always go back to splinterlands and how their company shot upwards as people could get involved so easily when they saw the opportunity to earn. The barriers were low and let a lot of people make that initial time and monetary investment to get started with a lot of them diving even deeper in once they saw the future of the game and their returns.

I started with $10 for splinterlands and that's how I started. Now the value total is meant times more. Other games the entry barrier much too high. I have try other apps lot more to start but lose money. I know you want to earn more than you put in, I give it about a week then I stop play the game altogether. Nowadays there's so much apps to choose, it's very difficult to justify what's right !

Some of your comments are exactly what I am struggling to overcome, especially with balancing time in with results out. I found Hive, thanks to Splinterlands, and I was overwhelmed. What were resource credits? And does it cost me anything to make a blog comment? I am fortunate that a few friends in real life, some with a strong tech background, and I joined around the same time. In general, we are excited about blockchain and we see Hive as a good platform to learn, play, plan and launch. We hope what we do will be on Hive and it's the only blockchain that we are currently on. Our community is HiveFive since we started as a team of five and we really like Hive. Sorry for a long comment, but I think you are someone that has knowledge and good experience. What we want to develop is applications on Hive that bring more users. Hopefully, six months from now, we will be here and you will not be on your island yet!

Sometimes we forget our most valuable asset is time. We don't stretch too thin in funds / project only, but in time / project too.
