A disappointment or embarrassment to a person that places that person in harm's way or at a disadvantage, a compromising position, or a drain on one's financial goals and mental stability. I share a flash fiction story that encompasses exactly 50 words. This format was created by @felt-buzz.
My story is below:
Anita eased the door shut. Covering her mouth, she blinked rapidly trying to comprehend her fiance's words. "She's dead weight."
Upstairs, packing hurriedly, she wasn't quick enough.
Anita realized her ex-husband's correct assessment. At the hospital, she hoped her pleading eyes through slits in the bandages spoke a possible reconciliation.
