Catz | A Mixed Media Art Project

In art as in real life, animals that humans choose to domesticate are treated with care and respect. These animals are seen as adorable and loving. Even Hive has community dedicated to pets and owners alike, called "Hive Pets".

I remember when young, my mother could take in dogs and cats that were left alone on the streets. She would feed them. In turn, they would stay close to our home. They knew the place where they could receive love and protection. So each night, my siblings and I would go to bed with the various sounds of these animals.

I vowed that when I became an adult, that I would never own a pet. However, we all know that "never" is a word that sometimes will be retracted at some point in our lives.

Hence, we purchased a canine. A lovely Chow. That was as far as I would go.

Those are memorable days taking care of children and an animal, while working full time.

Children are now grown. Not one of them owns a pet. I swear that I had no part in their decision making.

So, I dedicate this mixed media art project to the lovely felines that capture the hearts of many and are dedicated pets that bring joy to adults and children alike.

My inspiration for this project was two pure fractals and an abstract art image that I created in Apophysis, a fractal rendering program and Bomomo.

To blend the images, I utilized Canva for my design program. From left to right, below is my process.

Started with a blank, white canvas.

Changed background color to black. Added fractal. Created a unique background.

Distorted the fractal 55%. Awesome interpretation of the original fractal.

Added abstract image overlay for different shapes.

Added the various cat images and other fractals for texture.
