Hello Friends, i will love to take you all on a journey of a sculpture relief project i did late last year. This is actually one of the biggest project i have been commissioned directly. I titled this piece Love in Eden because of the concept of the project. It a nude project done for a club house, reason behind the concept. This project journeyed from a pencil sketch on a flat wooden surface to clay modelling, pop mould taking, resin casting and down to installation.
Below are images of different stages of the project and brief descriptions to talk about them.
The two image above are the early days of process from the pencil sketch on the wooden surface and clay modelling.
This stage is majorly the clay modelling. The clay was able to stay on the surface because of the little help and support from the nail texture on the surface.
I had to break the process into segments because the clay was getting dry real fast due to the weather. So here i was done with the clay modelling, i was applying oil on the surface of the clay, preparing it for mould taking. The oil is going to serve as a separator between the clay and the pop that i will be appying for the mould taken.
Right here i was applying POP ( Plaster of Paris) to the modelled work till i got a reasonable layer enough to be a mould.
Here i Demoulded two segment already and i was applying resin inside the mould to get my cast, which is the main destination for the whole process.
This stage we already at the installation destination and i was trying to couple the three segment together to make a single piece.
And here we successfully installed the piece on the wall and we made a frame around it.
Here the piece was successfully done and painted white. This was a journey of about two months in a quick summary. There was alot of up and downs during the project but they were lesson to learn for a better future project.
