If I do make it that old, will I be able to function?

There is no way to tell that. We can only hope!

Now-a-days there are advanced options to check if there is blockage or not! Go for a vascular ultrasound!

I was told by my cardiologist I needed to see a vascular surgeon. The word surgeon scares me. I know I should do it but I have anxiety over thinking about surgery.

At least go for the diagnosis at first! If any blockage is detected, you need a revascularization procedure, similar to angioplasty. Minimal invasive procedure.
