You're right: sometimes friends do stop by, and that does help lift the spirit. But I think it's also important to face the reality that Hive can't function on charity alone — nor should anyone expect to “make it” just because a few kind souls happen to like them.
That kind of charity can however be seen as counterproductive — even harmful — because it blurs the line between rewarding value and rewarding familiarity.
That said, having genuine supporters does matter, and I'm grateful for everyone who takes the time to read, think, and reply.
