Psalm 82
1 God presides in the great assembly;
he renders judgment among the “gods”:
2 “How long will you[a] defend the unjust
and show partiality to the wicked?
3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
5 “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.
They walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 “I said, ‘You are “gods”;
you are all sons of the Most High.’
7 But you will die like mere mortals;
you will fall like every other ruler.”
8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth,
for all the nations are your inheritance.

Dear friends
Psalm 82 highlights several important issues: the sovereignty of God, his delegation of authority, the problem of injustice and God's purpose for justice.
Here the psalmist believed in certain angels, or "gods" were responsible for social life among people. Present God judging the assembly of these "gods", accusing them against them and indicating the commission or responsibility that they did not fulfill.
Talk about the position of these "gods" and the loss of immortality; also proposes a new world order of justice.
This Psalm shows that God is sovereign, he judges human judges. What annoys God is injustice and the distinction of persons. The emphasis in the sacred scriptures is on the need to give special attention to the destitute. Judgment on unjust judges, which prevents the improvement of the condition of those who are badly governed. Prisoners of the situation without seeing how to get out of it.
God delegates authority to human governors, but they become arrogant. They think they are powerful but they are subject to the judgment of God.
He has to remind them that they are mortal, they will die like any human.
God makes judgment and takes possession of all nations. This Psalm it highlights the greatness, power and lordship of God over all nations.

Let us direct our prayers to God for our pastors and community leaders so that, following the example of Christ, they never act with ostentation but that their rule is humble service.
For all the baptized so that their act of obedience to the Word of the Lord is sincere and consistent in all life actions.
Oh God, have mercy on men without hope and on men who only know old things. Lord, we beg you to stay with us, by your word, by your grace and by the consolation of the Holy Spirit. In the name and by the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior and hope of the world. Amen.
