Upon arrival he spread out on the dining room table all the elements needed for his bean counter. With a roll of wire, and the rest of the accessories, he patiently assembled his creation. In a container he kept the beans. He drilled a small hole in the center of the container to give him access to the beans. Once the contraption was finished, he counted the beans individually as they moved through a counter. To keep count, a hexadecimal display showed the evolution of the number of beans. Once the work was finished, he felt satisfied with his achievement, which gave him the confidence to put more funny ideas into practice.

En la cabaña Richard debía ingeniárselas para ocupar el tiempo ocioso, así apasionado a la lectura de temas de interés general, le llevaba a tener ideas nuevas y en algunos casos graciosas. En uno de los libros de lectura, el personaje principal presentaba como novedad un contador de judías, el cual utilizaba para llevar la contabilidad doméstica. Richard consideró que aquella podía ser una buena idea.
Sin demora se propuso llevarla a la práctica. Como cada viernes que visitaba la ciudad, se dirigió a la ferretería para comprar los materiales. Con la lista de materiales simples, solicito al encargado las diferentes piezas necesarias. Al completar todos los materiales regreso a su hogar.
Al llegar extendió sobre la mesa del comedor todos los elementos necesarios para su contador de judías. Con un rollo de alambre, y el resto de los accesorios, fue armando pacientemente su creación. En un contenedor mantenía las judías. Perforo un pequeño agujero en el centro del contenedor para darle acceso a las judías, una vez terminado el artilugio, este iba contando individualmente las judías que iban desplazándose por un contador. Para llevar la cuenta, una pantalla hexadecimal le mostraba la evolución del número de judías. Una vez terminado el trabajo se sintió satisfecho de su logro, lo que le dio la confianza para llevar más ideas graciosas a la práctica.
