Today is Hump Day, and boy was it ever! I went to work as normal. Soon 9:30 approached and as I was talking with my coworker who arrived around 9:15, I realized the doc, which is our fill in doc, wasn’t there. He’s always early! I figured he was stuck in traffic and waited. 9:30 came and we opened. Both the 9:30 and 10:00 AM patients arrived and were filling out paperwork. At about 10 of the hour, I realized something was wrong. I called him only to find out he had no idea he was on for today! 🙀 He told me he’d be there by one as he was currently under his RV getting it ready for vacation!
To make a long story short, a super miscommunication by the regular doc was the culprit. I’m sure he sees it the other way around but it’s not! We had to scramble to reschedule a few folks but it all worked out in the end. 😅
Lesson learned for the two docs: don’t assume one knows what the other one is thinking!
What a start to my workweek! Is it the weekend yet? 🤭
Tomorrow is a non-doctor day so hopefully I can get Friday’s schedule fixed as there might also be a morning conflict as well. 😏
