The morning began at church where youth pastor Caleb made us stop and think and perhaps changed folks’ perceptions of youth. It was a wonderfully funny at times and serious at others- sermon. It was very well done; I enjoyed it and learned from it as well.
Once home, we did some things around the house. I spent some time in the garden swing which was needed. Then we decided to go to Lynden City Park. Here’s @silvertop on the bridge that lists to the right just a little. I think it’s been affected by the last couple of floods, but is still standing despite them.
The park has many squirrels, both greys and blacks. Today’s comedian was a black squirrel. We spied him running like crazy from the shore of the stream that runs through the park. He had a BIG prize in his mouth as he ran. We thought perhaps it was a cookie. We couldn’t have more wrong if we tried!
Upon closer inspection once he sat still long enough to snap the pic, it became apparent that it wasn’t a cookie after all! Nope-he’d snagged himself a hamburger!🍔
Do squirrels even eat that sort of thing?! According to GROK, they can and do!
GROK said:
Squirrels are opportunistic omnivores. While their primary diet consists of nuts, seeds, fruits, berries, buds, and other plant material, they also eat meat when it’s available. This includes insects, bird eggs, small animals (like voles or mice), carrion, and human-provided foods like meat scraps.
It goes on to say: People have reported squirrels eating burger scraps, old lunch meat, sandwiches, and even full cheeseburgers (one video showed a squirrel eating its weight in a cheeseburger).
• Pet or habituated squirrels have been observed enthusiastically eating cooked hamburger.
• They readily take advantage of human foods like this when foraging in parks, yards, or near picnic areas.
Who knew?!
So the next time you’re out in the park, you might want to watch that burger and NOT leave it unattended! 🐿️🐿️🐿️
Here’s a couple more pics! Enjoy!
That’s it for me. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

BSB Ephesians 2:11-18
Therefore remember that formerly you who are Gentiles in the flesh and called uncircumcised by the so-called circumcision (that done in the body by human hands)— remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.
For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace and reconciling both of them to God in one body through the cross, by which He extinguished their hostility.
He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
