What Did Ya Say? 👂………..My Actifit Report Card: March 30 2026

in Actifit13 hours ago (edited)

This morning, I set out for the audiologist for a hearing screening. They were located in Bellingham, so I had about a 40 minute drive to get there.

Once I arrived, I filled out paperwork and was called back. She looked in my ears first and asked a couple questions. Then we went into her office where she went over the questionnaire I had filled out. Then, I stepped into the testing booth. She played tones one ear at a time. She told me to click the clicker if I wasn’t sure but thought I’d heard something. Once the test was over, she shared the results with me.

Apparently, I was right in my assessment that my left ear hears better than the right ear. It’s the better of the two but has moderate hearing loss. Still-I can get by. The right ear definitely is worse and is missing a lot of the frequencies we hear daily. Long and short of it-I could use assistance. Tinnitus is caused by hearing loss which your brain manufacturers tones, trying to make up for that loss. That’s why my tones and hissing are higher pitches because I’m missing a lot of the higher frequencies. 🙄 it was discussed that hearing aids would help relieve the tinnitus by helping me to hear those missing frequencies. Well, I am contemplating all this and haven’t decided just yet, what I’m going to do.

In the meantime, I am working on listening to specific noise frequencies hoping maybe to reduce the “volume “ of my tinnitus, until I decide whether or not to do the hearing aids. To think-I always thought if I ever needed them, I’d be well into my 80’s or 90’s! How did I get there before I even got close to that age? 🧐

Once home, after @silvertop was done with his stuff, I suggested a trip to Lynden City Park for a hike and then a coffee date. That’s where I met Mr. Squirrel.

He had been on the ground at which he abounded towards a really short tree in comparison to all the others.

He was all over that little tree-almost like an aerial acrobat! He was also really cute! Then he stretched out like Cot or Cyle does after they’ve lounged around.

Then, I noticed him sitting and eating what I thought was a pine cone.

Upon closer inspection of the photo I took, I discovered it was this…..

….which turns into this…..

The little bugger was eating magnolia blossoms before they bloomed! GROK says that they eat them as they are tasty, nutritious, have sugar and the squirrels are craving those nutrients. They often can strip the tree of all of its blossoms! 🙀 Sort of reminds me of my battle with my Mr. Squirrel and the walnut tree at home! Fortunately, the park has many of these trees but it also has many squirrels. A shame, but nature will figure something out I’m sure.

As you can tell from the pictures, it’s been a beautifully sunny day here. It wasn’t overly warm, but if you stayed in the sun, it was quite pleasant. 🌞

Tomorrow sees me heading to ladies Bible study. Then once home, I’ll be roasting coffee and getting my bird feeders done as the hummingbird feeder did arrive today.

That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

BSB Hebrews 9:11-15

But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made by hands and is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by the blood of goats and calves, but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, thus securing eternal redemption.
For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that their bodies are clean, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, purify our consciences from works of death, so that we may serve the living God!
Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that He has died to redeem them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

SQUIRREL!

Saw the squirrel, immediately upvoted, scrolled down to say squirrel. Love those little creatures. Going to read now.

Sorry to read about your hearing loss. I hope you get it under control with today's amazing modern technologies. There are so many impressive devices on the market... I'm surrounded by a lot of elderly expats, and they sometimes show me what they can do. Basically a smart phone in your ear by now, with all kinds of functions. But expensive.

Magnolias grow a lot around here. Lily likes to make arrangements with all stages of the lowers - the cone, the flower, and the seed pods. She loves to arrange stuff and has a pretty good eye for that. I guess from her mother, who is also talented in crafts.
