Feeling Sluggish?………My Actifit Report Card: May 22 2025

Slugs are a bit on the gross side and I’m not really sure of their purpose on this earth other than to eat the plants you’ve just planted, but they are part of the Northwest.

They are shell-less and leave a disgusting and slimy trail wherever they go! Ever step on one barefoot? I don’t recommend it!

There are several variations all of which I’ve given special names to. The two I’ve got here are what I like to call ‘poo’ slugs for the reason you might guess-they look like it! Then there’s camo slug. Yes-it looks like it has typical camouflage clothing on….but it doesn’t. 😏 And, last but not least, is army man slug, for he’s army green. I don’t seem to have any pics in my archives of them, so let your imagination run wild here!

My favorite mollusk is the snails of the Northwest!

They are very diverse in coloring and usually a fairly good size.

I will always move them out of harms way!

Why you ask? Well, the move at such a slow pace taking in calcium carbonate and other minerals to build that glorious shell! As you might guess, it takes a long time. If they don’t get the right balance of minerals, the shell will be inferior.

I enjoy finding them and photographing them. Then I move them to safety.

Work was busy for me before the doc got there and during the appointments. I did complete the day’s work. Just no time to chase claims and things.

It remains to be seen whether or not my coworker comes tomorrow. I’m feeling she might not. We’ll see.

Yes! Cory's slug bait! It's safe to use around edibles and it does work. The only thing is, rain will dissolve it, so you have to reapply. Available everywhere including Amazon. Worth the purchase; it's not expensive.

There's "poo", and "camo", and "army man".. okay! I got that. And yes, through the years, you have been just so kind to those critters... always moving them to safety. You are their protector! Always watching out for them every time you are out hiking... which is practically every single day. You must feel very bad when you come across one that is crushed. Do you think they have souls...
