There is one thing that could be done, a letter to Microsoft, asking them to block Tron and Steemit from git-hub. Microsoft has shut down other developers, so that could be an option, I don't know what would happen but if only the HF 22.5 or whatever Sun called it code is blocked on git-hub, then the original code might stand a chance of being re-implemented.
So another Knee-Jerk reaction, I hope there are fewer and fewer of those as time goes by. Maybe in the future developers/front ends other than steemit will be allowed to put forth code changes to the witnesses. I semi-remember that steempeak had some they were planning on for after the SMT hard fork.
I think the users may be able to move past it all, but the trust that was shaky to begin with, is on very soft ground and to many more tremors may just liquefy the ground it is sitting on.
