Irish Military Museum
This fine establishment opened it's doors in 2015 and was the brainchild of history buff and miltary fanatic William Sullivan. The museum which boosts an array of military memorabilia from Ireland, as well as many other countries is basically William's private collection built up over many many years. I have included lots of photos below to give you all an idea of what William has amassed over the years.
We visited here with our family a few years ago, when we lived in Co. Meath and if you are ever in the this neck of the woods the full address is:
What they say
Here are a few words from the official webiste about the museum:
"When William was just seven years old, his grandfather, a marksman, gave him a prized coin that he had won in a competition. Ever since, William has passionately collected and cared for wartime artefacts from right around the world. Though he is a staunch anti-war advocate, he is fascinated by military influence on technology and innovation, and is keen to share his insights into the evolution of weaponry and technology advancements with museum visitors."
The Irish Military Museum And Park is built on 5,000 square feet on the site of a former beef farm. With tens of thousands of historic items, picturespque picnic areas, outdoor fun for kids and a regular line-up of music and reenactment events, the museum offers a unique, hands-on experience that is unmatched anywhere else in Ireland. It has won the Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice award for seven consecutive years, proudly maintains a five star rating and has received over 400 reviews. It is also ranked as one of the top ten musuems in Ireland.
