That makes sense, sometimes I see photographers with their cameras covered or wrapped in plastic.
Yes, if the weather resistant cameras are too long in the rain some water might get inside the camera and damage it. I have such a plastic bag in my backpack too - just in case ;)
Generally you should avoid water, but a little bit of rain or so does not matter. My old camera was not weather / water resistant and got completely frozen last winter on a mountain, but it worked fine :)

Yes, I am very condifent, that some frost and ice won't harm the camera, but I'll see when I'm next week on a snow hike :)

It has snowed a lot where my parents live and in the mountains, but here we have had only rain, much !DERANGED rain.

Rain can be cool, but I don't like it in the colder months like now, when it should be snowing.
