It's easy to follow the crowd.

It's much harder to stand on your own two feet and go in a different direction. Social media has turned people into robots. They all want to look the same, talk the same and be into the same trends.

Grown men rocking labubu's. Need I say any more..........

Just because other people are doing it doesn't make it a good idea.

Fuck those trends. We know all about them in crypto over the past few years when the sheep follow the latest buzz and ignore real real projects in chase of fame and riches.

We all want the riches in the end but it's a lot better to build them on a solid foundation instead of hoping to win a big bet against the odds.

Now I might also be moving in the wrong direction focusing all of my time and effort on hive but even if it fails I can make peace with that knowing there was substance behind the effort.

People follow all these influencers on social media and strive to have what they have, to look like they look but what's the point. If your not happy with what you have right now. You'll never be happy when you get more.

It's great to try and grow in life and achieve more, move up the rankings but unless you're doing it with the right frame of mind it will mean nothing.

I have life goals and money goals but even if i do hit them it won't stop me doing the things that i love right now.

I could have a million in the banks and still want to go for a game of golf and a few pints with my mates. Money wouldn't change any of that or what's important to me.

It would just add to what's already there.

If I was following the crowd i would have left hive years ago and bought a load of meme coins, nft's, game tokens and probably lost what I already have.

Instead I stuck with what I enjoy doing and if it pays off some day even better.
If not it's bought me a few pints and paid a few bills which is more than Instagram has ever done for all those people who pour hours in the apps every day and waste their time and their energy wishing for what they see on the screen.

Golf is most places of the world is still considered to be for the happy few.
And what else should we do with our time if we didn't need to work? :)

I do see this, following the influencers, as one of the biggest danger also for the Hive blogging part of the blockchain. If you did read my posts recently, you know that I fear that Hive is becoming an photoalbum, cooking book and even a dictionary.
Here people write about the popular topics just to earn. On other social media, the follow the influencers to be hip and get some attention.

I always did consider myself a lone ranger. And the more time I spend here, to more that confirms this. I do hope that I will be able to keep on finding the motivation to stay active. Because I do love it.

Most outside people don't like long form posts or blogs but there is a place for it and for the short form too.

I always felt that hive tries to cater to too many tastes in the one site and that we need sperate sites for each type of content and community.

Someday we might have real breakaway communities where people can find what interests them.

At the moment we're working on something sports related so that might help you stay interested when it's sports specific and people are only there for sports if it works out.....

It's the way forward if it was possible for each community to break away and built their own space for each subject with external members who know nothing about hive or the inner workings. Just sports or movies or ww2 history or whatever people are actually interested in.

Interesting to hear that a sports project is in the pipeline. If I can help, let me know!
