I am an advocate of vitamin C use for preventing colds and flu but it sure had prevented me for ever catching a cold and I haven't suffered from colds in years now. I had some cases of allergies but not colds. I attributed my resistance to cold because of my regular vitamin C use.
It started when I had an operation for my arterio-venous fistula on my left arm, I already knew that vitamin C hastened the recovery or healing of wounds as opposed in not taking it at all. So after a few days the surgical wound healed completely to the amazement of my renal nurse back then.
Then I noticed that I am not catching colds anymore and I learned from back then that it was the vitamin C that prevented me from ever catching it. I did continued in using it until today.
I also used vitamin C for a variety of reasons, one is for me to absorb iron form my foods because I was anemic back then and I needed as much iron for my little left red blood cells to efficiently carry oxygen in my body. I also used folic acid and I needed it to get absorbed too efficiently so vitamin C is the best nutrient for that purpose.
Vitamin C also had prevented my skin for ever being dark in complexion unlike what was happening to other patient's skin as they just get darker with their complexion due to being in a long-term dialysis plus I also noticed that if I ever had gotten darker from sun exposure my skin recovered quickly as well reverting back to its original color.
So in effect overall vitamin C will improve your absorption of iron in your food or maybe iron supplement thereby improving your strength, appetite, and sleep and your overall well-being. It prevents you for catching colds if used regularly, I take mine in every meal. It improves your skin and protects your cells form oxidation and possibly curing your cancer in megadoses.
I might in effect getting a megadose of vitamin C because I am not able to let it out from my system until my dialysis. It could be the reason that I was cured from my anemia which made me to not require blood transfusions anymore which I do thank God about it because it saves me the trouble in buying blood for transfusions or those expensive EPO hormone injects to correct anemia.
Nothing will be lost if you take vitamin C so if you just get those pesky colds that disturbs your sleep at night just take vitamin C and guaranteed you will not suffer from colds anymore plus being protected in so many ways that we know or do not know.
