How did it go?
So I posted her yesterday in the Sports Talk social community that I was going to have a chance to tee it up in Royal Liverpool just ahead of the Open championship in July. So how did I get on today some of you might be asking and wondering? The answer is I got on pretty damn good if I'm honest about it, but the way I played tee to green I really should have scored a little bit better. My ball striking was as good as it's ever been. I ended up playing with the best pro in our club who plays off a handicap of +4 and I ended up beating him! Now I didn't get a better strokes score than him but I got a better stableford score so from the three guys I played with I ended up with the best score. I still don't know if that's good enough to qualify and I reckon that it's probably just not good enough.
The frustrating thing is that it was the Putter that didn't quite roll that let me down in the end, I don't think I three putted at all, but was really unlucky with some. What I mean is I left so many of my putts a foot or less short and right on line meaning that if I had just hit them with a tiny bit more pace I probably would have made at least three or four more putts than I did. That would have improved my score enough to probably be the winner from my club and qualify for the next round in Tubbercurry.
Score
You'll see my scorecard below from today's round. It's not bad at all when you look at it five over par for nine holes a golf, I certainly would have taken that before a ball was hit. My driving was on point,my wedges were also playing really well and my putting was actually excellent except for a couple of them just not quite making it to the hole. As usual it was my irons that were the worst part of my game, but they didn't affect my score too badly. I said yesterday before I hit a ball don't forget to around 20 points that I've been able to chance. Well I got a 19 points or 41 strokes less my handicap of six for nine holes which leaves me on 35 net. Will it be enough? I doubt it to be honest. But I still haven't heard anything so I'll hold on to a tiny little bit of hope.
🐰🐇🐰
I saw this little rabbit skirting around before I started my game. So even if I don't qualify at least I got to get out in nature for a stroll first thing this morning.
So will I get to tee it up at Royal Liverpool just before the Open championship this July? The truth is I don't know yet but the fact that nobody's rang me or let me know what this stage it's looking pretty unlikely put into I find out for sure and hold on to that little bit of hope.
One thing for sure is that today's score was qualifying and it means my handicapped 13.2 should be cut so I think I'll be off below 13 tomorrow 12.7 12.8 to apply that perhaps. Let's see in the morning.
