Ich habe mittlerweile ein bisschen Angst vor Hardforks bekommen. HF24 ist bei weitem nicht der schlimmste HF, den ich erlebt habe. Das war HF21/HF22 noch zu Steemit Inc.-Zeiten, wo es Tage lange Ausfälle gegeben hat und meine Votes plötzlich nur noch die Hälfte wert waren zu früher wegen der Einführung einer nicht-linearen Reward-Kurve und der 50%/50%-Rewardaufteilung.
Trotzdem habe ich bei HF24 wieder ein ungutes Gefühl bekommen. Wegen der ganzen Verschiebungen war zunächst die Hive Wallet bei Bittrex über 2 Wochen offline.
Dazu habe ich wieder den Eindruck bekommen, dass der HF nicht ausreichend getestet wurde und ob es überhaupt ein Testnet für Hivemind/Condenser gibt?
Ich habe eher den Eindruck, dass Änderungen im Live-System getestet werden, weil nach dem HF plötzlich wesentliche Funktionen wie die Anzeige von getätigten Upvotes, der Kommentaranzahl (zeigt immer "1" an) oder auch das Claimen von Rewards nicht mehr funktioniert haben.
Die Hive-Engine und 2nd-Layer DApps hat es besonders schwer getroffen und waren einen Tag offline.
Wurde der HF überhaupt getestet? Noch schwerwiegender ist, dass der Airdrop, ein zentrales Feature des HF24, nicht richtig geklappt hat.
Insgesamt fühlt sich jetzt auf @peakd alles langsamer an als vorher. Notifications, Kommentare oder das Laden von Profilseiten dauert 5 Sekunden und länger oder funktioniert gar nicht.
Fünf Sekunden auf Notifications warten zu müssen, ist eine schreckliche User-Experience!
Genug Rant, wie kann man das in Zukunft besser machen?
Hive braucht unbedingt ein funktionierendes öffentliches Testnet sowohl für die Core Blockchain als auch für die Hivemind/API-Server und die 2nd-Layer Apps wie Condenser (hive.blog) und Hive-Engine, damit wir den HF bereits vor der Aktivierung ausprobieren können und die gröbsten Bugs beheben können.

Over the last couple of years, I have become a bit afraid of Hardforks. HF24 is by far not the worst HF I have experienced. That was HF21/HF22 back in Steemit Inc. days, where there were blackouts lasting almost a week and my votes had suddenly only half the value than before due to the introduction of a non-linear reward curve and the 50%/50% reward split.
Nevertheless I got a bad feeling again with HF24. Because of all the delays and postponements the Hive Wallet at Bittrex was offline for 2 weeks.
Again I got the impression that the HF was not tested sufficiently and if there is a testnet for Hivemind/Condenser at all?
I rather have the worrying impression that changes are tested in the live system rather than on a testnet, because after the HF essential functions such as the display of transacted upvotes, the number of comments (stuck to 1) or also the claiming of Rewards did not work anymore.
The Hive-Engine and 2nd layer DApps were hit especially hard and were offline for a day.
Was the HF tested at all? Even more serious is that the Airdrop, a key feature of the HF24, did not work properly.
All in all everything now feels slower on @peakd than before. Notifications, comments or loading of profile pages takes 5 seconds and longer or does not work at all.
Waiting 5 seconds for notifications to appear is an awful user experience.
Enough rant, how can we do better in the future?
Hive absolutely needs a working public testnet for the core blockchain as well as for the hivemind/API servers and the 2nd layer apps like Condenser (hive.blog) and Hive-Engine, so that we can test the HF before activation and catch the biggest bugs.
