I truly think it is the applications that will attract the users. For example, I joined Splinterlands first and I did not know about HIVE. After learning more information, I enter the HIVE ecosystem but the learning curve is fairly tough. Some users start but leave after they realize they don't get a payout and they don't know some of the useful tools to jump that little gap to the dust threshold.

You are a very good example on how new users can join the blockchain. The games and dapps work like a magnet and you can start using them without understanding how everything works. If people are interested, they will find out by themselves but it takes quite some time to get familiar with how things work on hive.
