Hello Hivers,
I have been busy for a couple of months because we were planning to organize a music festival in the mountains of north India. At first, we wanted a place where all of it could be done without any hassle. We had so many locations in mind but some of them were too close to the city and some were way far in the mountains. then finally we got one location which seemed perfect to us and it was near the roadside and it was 5km away from the main road and 1km away from the main village.
Soil (Soyal) village is a very small village in Manali and it is very beautiful and away from the main city. Covered with the green forests and a river flowing in between, make this place no less than heaven.
The idea behind the name of the festival was also from the name of the village. We wanted to make this festival which is more connected with nature and that is why we wanted it to be a zero-waste festival. We were avoiding any type of plastic use and all the things we used for the decorations were the left-outs. We try to recycle everything and educate the villagers to do the same in the future as well.
The other objective of the festival was to educate the villagers about the arts and culture of music and to know how these festivals are held and how the villagers can do better things for the development of their village.
We were working so hard till the last day and it was looking like we could not make it on time. But fortunately, the day of the festival came and all the artists from all over the world, most of them from India, were at the venue. We were very excited for everything.
After that when all the bands played, I was very happy and motivated to see such talented musicians and I was lucky to get the chance to learn with them. It was a crazy experience.
We are planning to do a Sounds of Soil 2.0 real soon.
Peace.
