Earlier this year, my papa and I repainted both my room and their room. It felt really good doing so especially when you see the transition between the old look and the new one. It somehow gives you a different vibe especially because of the colors we chose and how we enjoyed the process.
Last month, around a week before my birthday, we decided to repaint the living room, dining area and our receiving area for guests. It took use three days to actually finish the whole thing despite the fact that we live in a small and cute house. haha Anyway, it was a lot of fun... and I want to share to you the experiences. ^^
As I've mentioned earlier, it took us three days to finish the whole thing, so I'll be dividing this post into three parts based on the day we worked on. I hope you enjoy the transition as well. Let's start!
DAY ONE
Here are the "before" photos of the area which we are going to repaint. It's a small area which comprises our living room and dining room. Our kitchen is outside because the part which was supposed to be the kitchen is too small. My parents, especially mama, love cooking, so they needed a bigger space. We have a small and open extension for our kitchen outside.
First things first, we removed the things that wee need to remove to make repainting easier. We decided to just keep and move the heavy stuff in the area as long as we have enough space to work. We secured some appliances like our TV in my room and also placed some masking tapes on the ceiling and the sockets. :) We decided on white and light blue combination for the color.
We used three coatings for this. We finished this side in the morning. I usually do the first and part of the second coating then papa would do part of the second coating and the final coating. :) Mama is taking care of Arashi so he won't be disturbing us as we work. haha She also prepared our food because painting is not an easy job. We needed energy! lol
We did the opposite side and the entrance side in the afternoon. We divided the space and I especially did the lower part while papa did the higher parts. I helped only until the second coating because I had a class that day, so papa had to finish what he could for the rest of the afternoon.
Here's what we accomplished on day one. :) Now, let's continue to day number two!
DAY TWO
We divided our tasks for the second day. Papa would be painting the part with the sink while I do the door jambs. Also, I was assigned to mix the paint we're going to use because mama wanted to have a much lighter color of blue for the door jambs. :)
I finished my task easily in the morning. The reason why is because I wanted to paint my door with Shinsuke from Inazuma Eleven in the afternoon of Day Two... which I did. I already made a post about it before, but in case you missed it... here's what my door looks like now. ^^
It took me the whole afternoon to finish this baby, but it was worth all the time, effort and back pain! <3 I really enjoy looking at it now every time I enter my room. He's such a cute character. <3
And while I was doing so, papa focused on one area the whole day!
Papa painted the wall on this side as well as the door leading to our kitchen outside. He actually also painted the cabinet with brown, so it looks so much better now.
Here's what we accomplished on our second day of repainting! ^^
The interior part is finally finished!!! Our small house looked so much bigger after the repainting, so we feel more relaxed and happier! It felt so satisfying looking at the changes.
DAY THREE
On the third day, papa did the repainting on the area outside the living room. It's like an extension of our living room where we usually welcome guests or just hangout especially at night because the night air feels so good and comfortable.
All I did was mix the paint he's going to use because I needed to go back to work that day. :)
I mixed an even lighter shade of blue so that there would be a distinction between the walls and the door jamb.
We were able to finish everything in three days and it felt so good looking at our house now. It's the same house, same people but with a different vibe... a much lighter and happier one!
Repainting wasn't easy but it was indeed fun! Mama provided us with good food, too, so it was extra awesome! I wonder what my next project with papa would be. <3
I'll end this post here. Thanks a lot for checking and I'll see you in the next one! (^^,)/
