One of the painful things I saw the day after the typhoon was the destroyed "purok" that our small community worked hand in hand to create.
It was around August last year when we finally had a functional "purok" It's a place in our small community where we can hold some meetings, where the kids can do some activities like answering their modules or pray the rosary. Despite it being simple and small, we took pride in it because everyone really helped each other out to make it a reality, be it an adult or a small child.
This is the current condition of our "purok". Luckily, we can still recycle or re-use some of its materials and just add the other needed materials to rebuild it. We talked to our community leader and we decided to solicit within the community and rebuild the place, as much as possible, on or before Sinulog festival.
We're of course worried since most of the people in our place are still struggling in repairing their own houses, but everyone is willing to help when it's no longer that busy.
Since we are rebuilding the purok, my papa tried drawing a design for it and showed it to me and mama. He created this front view of the proposed design.
We wanted to make the design simpler and more stable than the previous one. It would be better for it to have a much better foundation. The previous "purok's" foundation wasn't that strong because of the shape, so when we renovated it last August, we just followed the original design and made only a few adjustments. The base or foundation was just as when it was first built.
Papa explained to me what he wanted the rest of the "purok" would look like, so I re-created his design and made it so we could picture out how the inside would look like as well. I also included the original front view as well as the back view. This is the completed design my papa and I worked together to make.
We're going to give this to our leader so she could decide whether to use this, make more adjustments or add more things to it.
This is how it would basically look like including the interior. I used various colors in order to distinguish the parts from each other.
This is the front view which papa originally designed.
Lastly, this is the back view.
The walls and chair attached to the small "purok" would be made of bamboo and wood slobs. We're going to check soon what materials we could still reuse from the fallen "purok" and also estimate the lacking materials so we could allocate a budget for it.
It might not be soon, but we'll try our best to make it stand again this month. We're going to help each other as always.
I'm actually loving this community. We're just renting and don't have our own house, but if given a chance, I'd like to live here for a long time.
I'll end this post here. Until next time!!!
PS: We lost our main internet connection this morning and using our backup internet is a struggle even for blogging. I even scheduled a class tomorrow, which I might cancel again. 😭😭😭 It's sad... But we'll make things work! なんとかなる~
