Well...I wouldn't say epic won or not. One of the people I follow on Youtube broke down the entire ruling by the court in a 2 and half hour video. Basically Epic's claims were not supported but looking at things further, they could see problems in some areas. This area is pretty much what you are pointing to as in where they won due to it related to California laws.
However it also means Apple can terminate Fortnite and even remove the Unreal accounts from putting applications on the Apple store. Then again both sides will probably appeal so I expect more things to happen. After all the ruling itself said Epic did break the contract.
