I didn't read these novels either, but I read Game of Thrones books and it was just amazing. What is cool, the book starts almost in the same way as the series but soon you discover that the book and the series are 2 different things (and both are great).
Yea I also read the game of throne books and I 100% agree! Especially the first season. It's almost identical as the book!
