Today is the 46th anniversary of the eruption of Mt St Helens in Washington state. Here's a couple shots my dad took while driving around that day. We lived about 20 miles away from the summit. Also added an old post I did last year. :)

We were lucky most of the ash went to the east during the main eruption. I can't imagine what it would have been like to have all that coming right at us. Terrifying comes to mind. :)

What a wild apocalyptic looking explosion. The Pacific Northwest is a fiery place.

Yeah, the one picture is kind of surreal with the ballgame going on like nothing is happening. Meanwhile in the background it looks like the apocalypse.

It looks like St. Helens has the highest threat score (267) for volcanoes in the PNW. I see Mount Rainier (244) and Baker (156) on the list too.
