Hello Foodies!
Another month has ended and you know what that means, right?
Yes, it's time for another Food Photography Series where I share some pictures of the food my family and I shared together in a month.
April is my papa's birth month, but I have already shared photos of the food we had that day, so won't be including them in this post. These are food we had in normal days for the month of April. So, get your tummy ready and let's begin! (^_^)/
We had some simple dishes and a little special dish shared last month. :) Let's talk about them one by one. ^^
We call this one "Vegetable Okoy". It's deep fried vegetables. The vegetables we included in this one are squash, carrots, potatoes, onions, etc. It was actually very delicious. I think it would be awesome to eat if there are different kinds of dips or dipping sauce. The only available dip we had that time was spicy banana ketchup. It went well with the deep fried veggies, though.
It's everyone's favorite!!! My mama's humba with eggs. <3 It's the kind of dish that becomes more delicious the next day. It was still newly cooked when I took these pictures. It tasted pretty good already, but when we reheat it the next day, it tasted even better. ^^
It's Tortang talong or "eggplant omelette". It's just a pretty simple dish, but it's really satisfying. I must say, eggplant dishes are comfort dishes for me. Well, next to pasta... that is! hahah But really, I didn't use to eat eggplant when I was young, but it's one of my fave food now. ^^
It's a chicken and veggie dish which we call "Tinolang Manok" here in my country. It has moringa leaves (though you can use other leafy vegetables as well), chayote, ginger, and so on. This kind of dish is my papa's specialty. It's a simple yet healthy dish. :)
This dish is called Chicken and Chicken Liver and Gizzard adobo. This style of cooking that my mama did is a variant of the usual chicken adobo. Well, I don't eat chicken liver and gizzard, but cooking it together with the chicken in this dish makes the soup/sauce and even the chicken more flavorful and delicious.
I did mention that I like eggplant, right? haha So yeah, here's another eggplant dish that my family and I shared together. I think mama saw a recipe on this online and she just modified it into her own. It's basically just cutting the eggplant in a certain way and dipping it into egg and bread crumbs before frying it. It's actually crispy. I like the texture and it's also yummy. <3
This is the good old "Utan Bisaya". It's basically just boiled vegetables. We usually put some meat or fish in this dish, but this time, we prepared just plain vegetables. I love meat, but having a veggie dish from time to time is actually really good. <3
And here comes the dishes that I can't eat even if I want to. Inun-unan or fish cooked in vinegar is what you see at the top, while the one in the bottom is just a simple fried fish. I remember when my system could still accept fish, inun-unan is one of my favorite dishes. I also used to like fried fish especially when it's really crispy. I miss eating them, but my body just rejects them. T_T
If humba is my mama's specialty, this dry style pork adobo is my papa's. He's really good at cooking this dish... it tastes so good. However, it's quite scary to cook. One of the reasons why I don't like cooking is the hot cooking oil splattering onto your skin. I'm crazy scared of that, and this dish's oil splattering is awful. I don't know how, but my papa is really good at it. I think it's about the right temperature and the timing? Well, I'd rather just eat this dish than cook. haha... sorry xD
And that's it for the month of April. It's technically May 1st now since it's past 2AM, but at least I wasn't so late in posting the April edition of my Food Photography Series. I hope you guys enjoyed this month's list.
I'll see you in the May edition. I hope your tummies are happy and healthy! (^^,)/
