Where are you from? What do you do? What are your hobbies? What are you good in? What do you like?

It's idi from Istanbul, Turkey. I'm an English teacher and I'm writing my thesis over Second Language Acquisition. Unfortunately, I can hardly find spare time to catch up with all the stuff going around due to my overloaded life 😅 In terms of hobbies, I'm interested in Martial Arts (though I had to give a break for my trainings 3 years ago) and I've been in crypto ecosystem since 2017 and I can say that it turned into one of my hobbies ^^

Apart from that, Blockchain-based games are also attracting my attention to great extent 😅 Luckily, we're in Hive ecosystem 😌 I love engaging with like-minded people because it's getting more and more difficult to find people that you share the same vision imo.

That's all about me and thanks for providing us such a chance to know more about one another 😌

Thank you very much for taking the challenge! We seem to have a lot in common. My wife comes from Istanbul. I have met her in England in a seminaire for English Teachers. We have both a degree in teaching english :-). I've been in Istanbul very often to visit my wife's family. I love the city even if it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes :-).

Traffic can be horrible in Istanbul especially when you are squeezed in a bus at peak hours;-). Otherwise it's kind of magical. It's so big... each time I go I discover totally new places.

Can you share with us the working title of your thesis? It sound interesting. Is the focus mainly on the acquisition of English as the second language? Or just any language. Because English is an illogical pain. I know this as I have also taught English as a second language.

Of course, it's about teaching Pragmatics in EFL context. Currently I'm conducting an experimental study over it ^^
Nice to see that there are a lot of teachers/instructors in Hive :)

Meaning relies on the manner, place and time of an utterance.

That explains why when I teach the same poem with different groups of people, we have varying conversations.

Interesting. I was talking about the early days of pragmatism with my class just the other day. We can blame it for the different spellings between America and England - 'armor' as opposed to 'armour', or 'realize' instead of 'realise' - they were meant to be more 'practical' spellings.
