What is an AMA?

AMA is a format popular on Reddit where one person offers to answer questions for a limited period of time.

How long will I answer questions?

I will usually answer them pretty quickly, and I should be around for a few hours. I will continue to answer them as they come in. I am going to hop out in a few hours to go see Violent Santa but will be back to answering questions after.

I think you need around 5000 HP to get 1 token every 5 days, but you can use one easiest on PeakD.

Just go to the wallet page, then where you would unstake/delegate you will see an option to use claim tokens.

You will first need to claim a token with the top option. Keep in mind, this will use a lot of RC.

You can always point them to https://hiveonboard.com/, if there are available tokens, they will be able to sign up for free.

There is always an option to pay 3 Hive to sponsor an account.

I have no magic crystal ball to predict this. I see people freaking out constantly, but BTC is relatively close to all time highs, not sure why everyone is in such a panic. I would expect the next time BTC breaks all time high, you will see some cash inflow to alts.

My first names were taken, so I was just doing double names. At the time, I really didn't really know what to expect here, so I wasn't really to worried about getting a fancy name. I kind of regret it as people think it is related to Mark Walberg or more than it is.

Quick question for you. What advice would you have for WOO in regards to promoting Hive through our wrestlers, conventions, wrestling news writers, and through gaming? @bookerman has been reaching out to a lot of people about joining Hive and the benefits, but any advice would be nice.

Also, what do you think about the current DHF and proposal system? What would you like to see from proposals? Do you think DHF funding should just be for Hive development or do you see value in it to fund marketing proposals too?

Finally, what's it going to take to get you to support our proposal #346? Is there something else you would like to see there? And it kinda seeps into a bigger question of what do you look for when it comes to supporting proposals?

What advice would you have for WOO in regards to promoting Hive through our wrestlers, conventions, wrestling news writers, and through gaming?

You won't do it with good year blimp advertising, that takes a massive budget but is what most people are trying to do. I would recommend checking out this book, but this is the direction you need to go with the budget you are working with.

Also, what do you think about the current DHF and proposal system? What would you like to see from proposals? Do you think DHF funding should just be for Hive development or do you see value in it to fund marketing proposals too?

I think there isn't enough people voting the proposals to make it less about a handful of votes. I'm fine with it being used for anything that helps Hive. Most of the proposals have been very disappointing and extract ten times than the value they provide to Hive.

Due to how the DHF has been used, I am only voting the return and stabilizer. If I could vote the return twice I would.

We are burning millions a year with very little benefit to Hive.

Im with you that some proposals might have a little benefit to Hive. That’s why I vote on only a few. But my vote value is low as well 😇

I think especially this proposal has a real benefit for the people out there without any deep knowledge of crypto things to get in touch with it and understand what is possible.
The rally car for example hasn’t that effect and a lot of money get burned.

But that’s my two cents only.

There are lots of witnesses, if you are interested because of money, it is unlikely to be profitable for a very long time if not forever. If you are trying to strengthen the network, a seed node or full node would do a lot more.

A witness you earn rewards based on your ranking. You monitor transactions as they are published by verifying and signing blocks.

A full node acts like a RPC node which handles requests from dapps to read and write to the blockchain.

Hi @themarkymark, I saw from one of your recent posts where you used AI to play a DnD game.

In the past year, I discovered solo RPG and gravitated more towards lighter RPG systems using Mythic GME 2.0 as the oracle. But I have found lately that I have been preferring mechanics-based solo ttrpgs, e.g. Riftbreakers, Ker Nethalas, where there is a defined game-loop. I found this is much easier as a solo player.

Do you only play DnD or are there any other systems you use?

I typically only play PC games and board/card games like Cards against Humanity.
I don't know anyone that plays D&D type of games.

I want to begin to automate actions on hive/hive-engine for myself. Mostly token actions (trading, staking, unstaking, etc.), not curating/voting. I am planning to begin learning Linux/Python. Am pretty tech saavy and have been around since the TRS-80, so I am confident I can pick things up quickly ( 🤣 ).

I assume I would need to run a node to control this myself (I am guessing both Hive and Hive-engine). Would a full node be best?

Also I am a bit of a mosachist and am considering learning C/C++ eventually for myself. Better to just stick with python in the beginning for automated stuff or suck it up and do it the hard way

You do not need a node, you can use public nodes. When you get to the point where you have a public app that has a lot of demand on a node, then you would consider running at least one node to support it.

I would highly recommend python, you can always move to JS later if you want. That's really the best options for Hive. There is a Rust library, but I don't know the state of it. Rarely would I recommend C/C++ for a project.

I use a Wooting II, it uses a unique style of magnetic switches.
It is pretty quiet, for a mechanical, but still has the clicky clacky sounds.

Not specifically either. I drive a car, but trucks are great for utility. I've been thinking about getting one as it just makes life easier, I just like good gas mileage.

It is outrageous what they charge for trucks though. A good truck will run you twice the price of a car.

My question is this: Have you recently or lately created a fully functional and error-free dApp or Hive Tool using HAF and Hivemind instead of the old, seemingly outdated Condenser API to interact with the blockchain and be able to access, connect, extract, and deploy information stored on the Hive blockchain without any major issues?

If so, could you please provide me with some links or specific examples of the code to use to query Hive nodes and APIs and perform SQL queries against the HAF, Hivemind, Hived, Wax, Denser, etc. databases to successfully develop new, longer-lasting and more useful/relevant applications for Hive?

I use HafSQL a lot. I don't typically use HAF directly as it is for very specific uses. As for documentation, I believe we are fairly lacking and most is from the examples and tests in Gitlab.

No, that's Hive Node code. It depends on what you are trying to build.

The best would probably be looking at the official apps built on HAF.

For most people, I don't think you would be using HAF. Haf is mainly for apps you would run on a Hive Node and hopefully get distributed to other Hive nodes so it is decentralized.

Otherwise, you would likely be using RPC or SQL calls.
