Bitcoin's halving progress to date

We are now 90% of the way there:

Once the halving occurs, bitcoin's inflation rate will be cut in half to 1.8% per year.

Why is this such a big deal?

It will become lower than that of the FED's 2% target inflation rate on the USD and roughly even with gold's yearly supply rate increase.
