Hello Steemians!
Yesterday I went out of my home to start a new #wednesdaywalk. WednesdayWalk is an initiative of @tattoodjay, visit his blog to know more about it. I waited to publish the post because I resized and adjusted the images yesterday evening.
After Lunch, I went to the Industrial Zone by foot. Along the way, I met the Saint Leonardo Village. This is a little village with an ancient story that takes root until the Middle Ages.
I stopped at the Saint Leonardo Church, a little chapel with a fascinating aura.
This church is located along the Frigido River, the main water stream in my city.
In this place, it was preserved a famous sculpture of Biduino, an artist of Middle Ages; the sculpture is actually exposed by the New York Metropolitan Museum.
This place is also remembered for its recent history: in the past century, here the Massacre of the Frigido Graves was consummated. It was September 1944, on 16th when 159 people were slaughtered and thrown into holes in what is now a tiny natural space near the church.
This place is a stop on the Memory Paths, the paths that want to remember the countless massacres carried out following the partisan battles during the Second World War.
I took several shots of the area; the little park, the church, the lateral views. Yesterday was a cloudy or rainy day so I couldn't avoid the little puddles.
Next to the Church, there is an old fountain that I often found opened. A few times I stopped to refresh me, especially in summer.
That's all for the moment from my #wednesdaywalk. To the next week, maybe!
