I totally thought it was metaphorical when I read it.
Yeah, even just by being on a computer/phone and on the internet we are active participants. But what can we do?! Like you said, it is literally what is necessary to get any type of message out.
Yeah, on the outside looking in, but still in it despite all protest.

        Thank you for helping me see the metaphor, because this dream/nightmare went exactly how I wrote it, and I always try to search for metaphorical meaning in dreams. I can see now, this is definitely the meaning behind it.
