RE: (Edit: UPDATED) Steemit Has Been Sold?? (Articles & Source Provided)

in #steem4 years ago

how do you buy something that's supposed to be 'decentralized' ???

Sort:

Steem is a decentralized blockchain, Steemit is just a (centralized) app built on steem

Buying the majority of stake in it?

In this case possibly a bunch of Steem and becoming the head of Steem Inc.??

I'm not sure what asset's are up for purchase but Steemit is just a dapp that gives us access to the blockchain. No different than some of the Tribe sites (which have owners/founders with large stake).

yes as @rentmoney said... the people with the control stake selling to new people with a control stake would constitute an "acquisition"

They aren't buying the STEEM blockchain. They're only buying the app that runs on the blockchain. Steemit is just the social networking app. It would be the same thing if someone were to buy DrugWars, NextColony, or Splinterlands. Make sense?
