The skins appeal, and I think they'll have a place in the future, but I'd much rather them as a rare drop than paying a considerable amount of DEC. Maybe I'm stingy, but I'd prefer to spend on cards.

I held off my purchase for a long time too. It doesn't look like skins will be added as a reward anytime soon. Currently purchasing them is bit of a gamble. Since I'm getting 50% off and I get the Guild discount, I'm willing to try that bet. I only have Rare Skins left.
