Let's start from the beginnings:
League: Diamond III π
AIM TRUE + TAKING SLIDES
Mana cap: 26
Allowed splinters: fire, life, earth, dragons.
I took a rapid look to my opponent (@kawash)'s last battles but it didn't gave me a clear view of its intentions: both earth and life at high level.
Background
I love taking slides because it removes from the game Lord Ariantus.. Really annoying card if you don't own it π
I hate Aim true because it removes most of advantages of my speedy fire splinter.
Infact, in medium mana matches I normally play Serpentine soldier because combined with my Pyre's +1 speed it's quite hard to hit by melee and ranged. This advantage is removed by "aim true", so I moved to the other medium-mana tank of fire splinter: PIT OGRE.
Normally I play Pit Ogre when I expect from my opponent more magic attacks (defenitely the big weakness of serpentine soldier) and I combine to him a Beetle Queen or some faster arrow to remove the armor to tank opponent (Spark Pixie is great)
But stop wrinting boring stuffs πππ΄π€π€ let's battle!
My tactic
Actually, not even Pit Ogre is a perfect option for AIM TRUE rule set because he is vulnerable to melee and ranged attacks.
So I rapidly decided for a clear "all-in" tactic: Attack first, attack strong.
πππππ
My lineup was the following:
- Exploding Dwarf: hit the tank and the second monster, then die.
- Pit Ogre: finish the tank
- Fire Beetle: Attack to first backline monster (hopefully hitten by dwarf's blast)
- Beetle Queen: Support to Pit Ogre
- Ferexia General: Attack to first backline monster (hopefully hitten by dwarf's blast)
The double inspire is the cherry on the cake π
The risks
- If the opponent plays fast cards on my Dwarf (I.E. Javelin thrower or Air Elemental), I lose.
- If the first double attack (dwarf + pit ogre) does not kills my opponent's tank , I will probably lose.
Anyway, seen the last matches of my opponent, out of neutral monsters and out of death splinter I thought I could take those risks.
So RUMBLE!
... and KABOOOOM! π₯π₯π₯
Dwarf Exploded... twice βοΈ . Then PIT OGRE ruled! π
My risky tactic perfectly worked and I won π. These are the matches that let me love this game.
Of course I can't always play this way because it is really easy to beat.. I think 1 game each 5 can be played like this.
This is the classical battle where everything runs well and your monsters can freely unleash their huge power!
I really enjoyed playing it ππ
Cheers
