Cheap Plastic Shite from Shopee #1

in #shopping3 years ago (edited)

There is no limit to the depths of cheap, plastic shite my wife can purchase from Shopee, our local Asian, Amazon equivalent. So today I present you with this....

A circle of floppy, pink plastic with a rabbit in the middle.

She bought three of them and they cost about £0.20 each. Have you worked out what they are yet?

The good news is that there are no batteries or moving parts so at least, unlike most of the shite that comes from Shopee, they can't either arrive broken, or go faulty upon first use.

If you're still guessing, the rabbit design has no relevance at all the their use and any connection to a vibrator with the same name is purely coincidental...

There you go. Drain covers for the bathrooms while we're not there to stop all manner of wee timorous and not so timorous bitey things from crawling up the drainage pipes while we're away.

Whatever will they think of next, or more to the point, whatever pile of junk will she buy next? Who thinks up this crap?

A week off and that's the best post I could muster! Oh Lord!

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy weekend 🙏🥳😀

Sort:

Hahaha 🤣 wouldn’t have guessed where it was for. We do have similar smaller silicon circles here in Spain with all kinds of little figures on top that do go on a cup. Especially in the summer that no insects fly in. (I don’t have them though)

I guess yours will work for the drains to keep the creepy crawlers out when you are away. Hopefully… 🤞🏻
Just the pink bunny thing… hahaha 🤣 lol
Have a wonderful weekend 👋🏻☀️😎

Insects can be a problem in tropical climates...it was just the pink rabbit and it connotations to a sex toy that was odd!

I've had rather an odd week to be honest but very nice to see you, I have a lot of Hive catching up to do today so I'll catch you later. Thanks and enjoy the sunshine :-)

Yes, I know… many insects you don’t want to have in your home. When it helps… 😉
I know hahaha 🤣

Hope not too odd @nathen007
Did notice you didn’t post much, but when I see you post, I check it out 😉😎
I’m just back from the day out to Gibraltar, bringing away some work things to the office. Now back catching up too.
Crossing the border wasn’t fun today. We waited almost 1 hour to get over in the car.
You are welcome! I do ☀️☀️☀️ It’s hot here at the moment… you too enjoy the sunshine and evening 👋🏻

I was thinking the same as well - a mug lid to keep the drink warm or to keep insects out.

Our guesses weren't too far tbh, just that the vessel we had in mind is a lot smaller!!

Hahaha yep, just the vessel was different.
It so looked like those mug lids 😁 have a wonderful Sunday 👋🏻☀️ @livinguktaiwan

Are there bitey things that crawl up in the night?
Do they hurt more than accidentally standing on that thing barefoot?

To be honest, yes is the answer. We have these little centipede things that have a terrible and venomous bite that regularly get up the drains and are fast as fuck. They can also grow up to nearly a foot long, I'll get a photo for you next time I see one in the garden although the wife's mother whacks them with a shovel if she sees one!

The big ones will need a trip to casualty for most people and have been known to kill people.

As for the rabbit. I don't even bother asking 'why?' anymore lol

Wow.., as you know we have small hairy spiders that' don't do anything!

Absolutely. Its only when I started travelling that I realised how lucky we are. Some of the bugs here are like things from nightmares. Hope you guys are having a great day and best wishes to all :-)

Ooohhhh!! This is probably where the centipedes I see randomly in the house came from! LOL. I’ve never thought of that and honestly never witnessed it anyway. I just thought they came from the very very tiny gap in the door and floor.

Whatever will they think of next, or more to the point, whatever pile of junk will she buy next? Who thinks up this crap?

I notice there are a lot of advertisements on youtube shorts 😂 this could be her source inspiration to buy those plastic stuff from shopee. BTW do you guys have Shopee food in Thailand too?

Yes we have Shopee food and we use it a lot but not as much as line, it depends on the s0ecial offers or number of coins we have lol...the wife is always getting free food from offers and stuff especially when buying things using specific credit cards...she uses three phone numbers and games them to hell!

Shopee is struggling though, they just laid off a lot of staff in Philippines and Thailand and as we find it difficult to get free shipping anymore, she doesnt order as much as she used to. Shes still up at midnight though for the vouchers!

Hope youre having a great weekend Mac, I've got a lot of catching up to do on Hive as Ive had a week off. You take care there :-)

oh, she collects the coins too? I rarely use shoppee because I notice there's some security issues with it. It's like the people will know my number or something. I also get spam links often, that's why I stopped using it.

Shes still up at midnight though for the vouchers!

hahah yeah those midnight vouchers are a thing and people here love that too. It's fascinating how these companies operate in a similar way.

It's like the people will know my number or something

absolutely, and is the reason she uses sim cards just for online shopping. The number of automated spam calls she gets is frightening!

I also use different sim cards for those stuff. Thankfully getting simcard is easier here. I heard in different countries, it's not even possible to have a simcard without proper KYC.

Wee timorous beasties hehe , I guess 20p is pretty decent value and actually a useful bit of plastic shite🤣
