So I've managed to stick my two runs a week for the last fortnight, and just really plodded along doing four 5K runs on Sundays and then either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on which day best fits with a morning run!
It's quite a nice plodding routine I've got going... I could squeeze in a third weekly run on a Thursday or Friday, but honestly I'm still feeling the circuit training more ATM and have managed four circuit sessions a week for the past fortnight, and this hasn't felt like too much of a chore for the most part.
So I'm happy with a holding plodding pattern for the running ATM, just sticking to my standard 5K route, it's such a nice run, I even walked it yesterday (Saturday) as I wanted to get in 15K steps and this contributed, and it was cold but clear and sunny and a midday walk is perfect to top up on yer vitamin D.
Just a couple of sample runs....
Today's Run - Sunday - Cold and Wet!
I treble layered for this - a medium base layer, then a regular top and my waterproof RonHill, hat and gloves.
I had to take it relatively easy as there were a few ice patches, which is probably more dangerous than everywhere being icy as you tend to not be as concentrated.
I took the first 3Ks especially easy, number one being a 5.40 pace, bit unsure about the footing situation, but by he final two I was confident enough to up the pace, just slowing down on corners and managed an OK pace for the final two Ks, well under 5.00 per KM and feeling pretty good...
Last Wednesday's Run...
Very similar....
Again just a standard plod along, getting a bit faster towards the end! It works for me.
Running final thoughts...
I'm quite happy with my routine... I seem to be getting out at around 7.30 - 8.30, any earlier and it's dark for the next several weeks, which I don't like.
Has to be slightly earlier mid-week as it's so much quieter at 7.30 than 8.00 - in terms of both cars and people.
So I think this is me for the next fortnight, then I might up it to three as there's an event I MIGHT run in February, we shall see!
